Habs last game of 2008 may be tonight....

Ok, well i'm sorry to all who were waiting about not writing on this sooner.... I have no other excuse than utter laziness...Well...for anyone in Montreal (and more recently all of Canada, since we're the only canadian time still in the 2008 NHL Hockey Playoffs) who wasn't living under a ROCK for the past month knows...the town is literally carzy over the amazing 2008 season the Montreal Canadiens (Habs) hockey club has had.... Top of the eastern conference, 104 points total, Alexei Kovalev big wake-up/comeback year, the explosion of young talents like the Kostityn Brothers (Andrei and Sergei), Carey Price, Tomas Plekanec and of course the brilliant coaching by second-year as head coach Guy Carbonneau (who won Montreal's last Stanley Cup in 1993 as team captain)....

Coming into the playoffs with boosted confidences and egos, they had a rough seven games against the Boston Bruins, team whom they had swept 8 - 0 in 8 games during regular season...Most people in Montreal and hockey analysts had predicted an easy win for the Habs, but such was not the case..... Rookies on the team learned then and there, being forced into a 7th do-or-die game, that the regular season, once playoffs had started, meant nothing....

But Carbonneau's lucky ugly tie and Carey Price's bouncing back from a 2 game slump aiding, Montreal won that game 5 - 0 and headed on the the second round of playoff glory against the Philadelphia Flyers...

Again, a team we had swept in regular season 4 - 0... Again, analysts and Montrealers in general cockily predicted an easy enough win for their favorites, thinking their first-round debacle against a surprisingly fit and determined team had taught them SOMETHING!!!....

Well, Montreal confidently won their first battle, winning game 1 by a score of 4 - 1...

But then, a wall suddenly drew itself on the Habs' horizon...Marty Biron...a Quebec City-born and raised veteran (30 years old) back-up goalie who was at his first experience as starting goaltender in his career...

Standing tall and wanting to win more than anything, being a childhood fan of now defunct Quebec Nordiques, Montreal's biggest rival in hockey ever to skate the game, Biron won almost by himself the following 3 games, defending his net at times almost standing on his head.....

I'll leave out all the little instances and incidents who have led up to this, but that's the main lines of it...

So, tonight is make or break night in Bell Centre, Gauchetiere Street, Montreal.... The Habs have to win the following 3 games in order to not get eliminated and eliminate Philadelphia....An almost impossible feat they DID accomplish once in their history, not so long ago, in 2004, against the Boston Bruins....

So, everyone here in Montreal (and I do mean EVERYONE, as I have personally heard muslim friends of mine say they were gonna pray in mosque for them) is on their toes about tonite..... Team hasn't been this good in 15 years, and people do NOT want it to end just now....

So...... GO HABS GO!!!!!!

Christmas (Falala la la la la la la laaaaa!)

Ok, I haven't written in a while, as holiday season has kept me SOOOOO busy.... Between shopping, working and keeping my shit together (not to mention an awful flu), time to write has been very scarce...

During the past weeks, a lot has happened... First and foremost, my little angel, my niece Charlie-Anne turned 1 on the 12th of December. On the 16th, the whole family (mom, dad, JJ, Cat, and Karinne's family ) congregated at Marc's and Karinne's appartment for her first ever birthday party.... Cousins Jacob and Noemie were there to share in the fun... She had a mountain of gifts, and sadly, her favorite one was.... MINE, of course.... I bought her this little shopping cart for kids, to help her learn to walk, and a Tigger toy that plays music and that she can unbuild and rebuild... She adored the shopping cart... I loved watching her run around behind it....

As for work, it was super busy for a while, then died down just before holidays.. We had a good exchange of gifts between us, and i got a bottle of Jack Daniels from Jean-Francois...

Now, tomorrow, i'm waking up early and going to my friends' Mathieu's and Lucas's house to eat breakfast and exchange gifts between us three and Annie, Lucas' girlfriend... Then, it's back to my place for a day of wrapping and resting, and then back to their place for supper...

Christmas day will be spent at mom's opening gifts (many of which will be for Charlie-Anne, as this year is her real first Christmas), so it should be fun....

I'll post what happened after holidays.... toodles!!

Ok, so here in Quebec, for the second week in a row, we had a HUGE snowstorm...40 cms, which is about a foot and a half...i got to work and had to shovel my way in....I added a picture...

Take a look at the door, and you'll get an idea of just how bad it was.........
Yesterday was spent under the covers, watching it snow through the window, except for the afternoon, which was dedicated to my little niece Charlie-Anne and her first birthday party....

All I Can Do.....

What is the one emotion that has everyone mystified? What is the one emotion that has started as many wars as it has ended? What emotion has had more plays, songs, and stories written about it than anything else? Love, that one emotion that makes enemies into friends and friends into enemies. So many legends surround this emotion, from the goddess Athena and Helen of Troy to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.Love comes in many different levels, so much that it doesn't appear to be the same emotion at all, but it is. There is so much to love, that it will be hard to put into this simple text. It can tear people apart and make them do irrational things, even bring together entire nations. What can this emotion not do? It's hard to tell, but there is a lot it can. This emotion brings tears to our eyes when something happens to our family members, friends, and pets. When we feel love ripped from us, as in death or being spurned by another, we do things we wouldn't normally do, such as go on violent rampages, or mourn to the extent that our loved ones have to watch us constantly to make sure we don't try anything like suicide. Some can move on, always remembering the lost loved one after a while, but others can not let go. These are the ones that need our love and support the most. Humans live on water adn sunlight and love.... simple as that...There are so many levels to love, that I can only express a few of them here. These are the ones we see most in life. Friendship starts this list off. Yes, it doesn't seem like it, but we do feel love towards our friends, this is what helps us get along so well, and why we miss them when we don't see our friends for a long time. It's also why we hold certain friends over others no matter what happens. Sometimes, the bond between friends deepens to the point where a stronger bond of love is made, making them family.Another level of love, are for our siblings and other family members. Even though we do things to our family members, and sometimes we don't like some of our family, that bond is still there. It's this family bond level of love that brought about the phrase, blood is thicker than water. We will do things for our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and children before we would even consider doing them for anyone else. Many wars have been started because of this family level, brother avenging brother or father, father protecting his wife and children, or even vice versa. This simple family bond can even extend to include our pets, amazingly enough, and that is a good thing.A third level to love, is the bond that brings man and woman together. This level is among the strongest of them all. It is this level of love that has brought together kingdoms into nations in the past, and ended many great wars. It's is also for the love of a woman that has started a few of our well-known wars, like the Trojan Wars of ancient times. It's brought together families that have argued for years and years, such as in the Shakespearean play, Romeo and Juliet. Even though the two mentioned killed themselves in the end, it still brought their families together. The last mentionable level of love is that bond between parents and children. There is no stronger, nor will there ever be. This bond starts from the very first tiny fluttering of movement and never ends, even after death of the child. A parent protects their children in the name of love, and directs them through life using it as the example to follow. Well, at least it should be. Because of their children, parents will work at a job they hate, just to make sure they have everything they could ever want or need. The phrase, love makes the world go round is very true. It's is our driving force, for what ever reason it may be. Poems, plays, and legends can only briefly touch the true meaning of love. We can only feel what that meaning is, and express it in ways only we can understand towards another. The true question we should be asking is not, what is the meaning of life, but what is the meaning of love. What is love? I don't know, but I'll do what I can to express it to my family, my friends, my future children and friends, and to every single pet I have or ever will own in the best possible way that I can

Today was a good day....

Ok, so today as a really good day... As you guys read earlier today, we had what we call here a "shitstorm" all day long... Snow, wind and slippery roads were all present, and winter is rearing it's ugly head sooner than usual, this year....

I woke up as my carpooling driver, MJ, called and said her kid's school was closed due to snow... I then looked out my window and saw that a slight little breezer the night before had turned into a fully fledged snowstorm for the ages.... So, I took the bus, thinking: "Ok, I might end up being a couple hours late, but I'll get there..."..As I was walking the only stretch I have to walk through, the bridge over the Milles-Iles River, I faintly heard my cellphone ringing in my pocket, over the blowing, freezing wind... It was MJ calling me to say the company I work for had closed for the day....

Now, some might have been pissed at getting up and walking in sleety snow for no reason, but I relished in two things:

1- I hate winter, and that's a fact, but I couldn't help but marvel at nature's beauty and fierceness, all mixed into a powerful display of a white, improvised ballet.... and

2- No working today!!!!

So I waited for the bus to take me back home from the bridge and climbed back happily in between the warm sheets and let sleep win me over in it's sweet embrace....

The day was spent playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, watching movies and vedging out indoors, as we got a whopping (im sorta guessing here) 60 cms of snow, at least.....

So, the day ends on a good feeling of nothing accomplished....;-)..Post you guys soon....
